Midwest Horse Talk

(This is part of a journal entry I wrote yesterday about two of our rescue dogs.)

We saved your dogs today. You brought in two perfectly healthy, loving labs and told us to destroy them or "whatever" we wanted to do with them. Your reason was that you were "moving out of state" and they were "too old". You looked us in the eye, told us their names, and walked out leaving a life time of love behind you.

We looked deep into their bright eyes, and couldn't find it in ourselves to slip the needle into their veins. Instead we called on a rescue group to give these boys a second chance at life. All they want is a bed to lay on and a family to love them. Is that too much to ask?

Champ and Hunter are safe tonight in a foster home. If you'd had your way they'd be in a bag in our freezer. You don't deserve them anyway.

We saved your dogs today.

WOW!!!!! I always wondered if some vet techs or vet hospitals did this. That is so awesome.

OMG... I saw the story on CL and posted it here on MHT hoping someone would have space for them. It brought me to tears thinks some jacka@@ actually was so coldhearted that they gave up their senior dogs for being seniors. I am part of a 501C3 rescue as well and I have seen my share of "dropped off / dumped" but the seniors hold a very special place in my heart. God Bless for taking them in.

Bless you for all you do to find new, loving, deserving homes for these wonderful animals. If I had room I'd take both of them. When the time does come for another dog to join our family it will definitely be another rescue dog.

I think that is so sweet that they have a second life with someone that can give them a home. Sometimes what is a burden for some.... is a blessing for others.

Beautiful boys! Wish I had room for two more. Very touching story. Can't imagine how anyone could give them up. Our dog is nine and I can't begin to imagine casting her aside.
