Moving back to the old boards

It looks like most of you aren't happy with this new website, so I'm going to move us back within the next couple of days. While this website here is more cost effective, I'd rather keep all you members happy and having a good time :)

So, if anyone is vehemently against me moving us all back - let me know. But otherwise this will happen tomorrow or the next day.

I totally agree- since Tami is the creator I will go with whatever she decides. I think its a learning curve...and I have to remember when the old board was just starting out there were very few posts on there too.

Now that I'm getting more accustomed to the new format I kinda like it. There are so many more features...still getting used to it but honestly don't care either way which format you decide to stick with. Again, I applaud your efforts!

I will chime in and say I would much prefer to move back to the old forums. I really, really miss being able to pull up a page that has only the posts I haven't read yet, especially after a weekend away. I know how to sort by discussion and latest activity and all that, but it's just not the same.

Maybe there is a different service that offers a more powerful forum plus the extras? I personally am not as big on the extras -- I get enough Facebook on Facebook. To me the forum is what's most useful and important, and I feel like we've taken a step back in that department.

Just my two cents -- regardless of what you decide, Tami, thank you so much for all your hard work!

Either site is OK with me. I do miss the "read unread posts" feature, of the old site, since I used it all the time. Also, it takes more time to scroll to the bottom of each page to go to the next one, rather than having the link to the following pages on top as well.

We do appreciate that you are trying to keep us happy!

As what the others have said, I am happy to have a site to go to. I do prefer the old one simply because it was easier and quicker to navigate. I am sure people, myself included, will learn to adapt but only 95 or so people have made the jump to the new site. Maybe the rest will come in time.

One thing I do like better about the old site is you had to be a member to be able to search members, view photos, etc. Now it seems anyone can look up the info on a member and see their photos, without having to be a member. It would be nice to have a little more privacy/security.

So, I think that the majority of the good things that we like about this board I can replicate with other functionality on the other site.

Here's what I think I'll do -

1) Remove this site again, and put back up the old forums (complete with all the old posts back)
2) Find a better gallery solution so that we can have a nice robust gallery for you guys on the old boards.
3) Try to find a nice classifieds system to go with it as well.

That way you guys will get a lot of the fun functionality of this site, but keep the nice robust message board from the other one. I'm putting in the request to switch it back right now so it may be a few hours to a few days. (It was quick last time...)

I never used the old site as I found it too clunky...I like the new site so thank you for trying to make the leap! Not sure I will be back on the old site and think you need to either stay safe with your existing base or take the chance that given time you may expand on the number of users...good luck whatever you choose.
The only thing you can rely on it life is that things will change!
